Booking your first massage can feel like a small leap — what happens when you arrive, what should you wear, what if the pressure isn’t right? If you’ve been thinking about it but keep putting it off, this guide walks you through exactly what to expect at our downtown Toronto spa, so you can walk in relaxed before the massage even begins. (Don’t just take our word for how first visits go — two of our recent guests shared theirs, on video, over on our Success Stories page.)
Before You Arrive: How to Prepare
There’s very little you need to do — that’s the point. A few small things help you get the most out of your session: arrive a few minutes early so you’re not rushing (we’re on the second floor at 754 Yonge Street, right by the Yonge & Bloor intersection), skip a heavy meal right before, and drink a glass of water beforehand. Wear whatever is comfortable — you’ll have privacy to undress to your own comfort level, and you’re professionally draped throughout your treatment.
If you have areas of tension you want addressed — a stiff neck from desk work, tired legs, general stress — make a mental note. Your therapist will ask, and the more you share, the more tailored your massage becomes.
Walking In: Your First Ten Minutes
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed at reception and your therapist will have a brief chat with you before anything begins: what brings you in, any injuries or sensitivities, and the kind of pressure you prefer. This is also the moment to ask anything at all — no question is too basic, and first-timers ask the best ones.
Every therapist on our team has their own specialties and style, from registered massage therapy to modalities like deep tissue, hot stone, reflexology and prenatal massage — you can read about the full range on our massage services page.
During the Massage: Comfort Comes First
Your therapist leaves the room while you settle onto the table under the sheets, and checks in before beginning. From there, your only job is to breathe and let go. Two things first-timers often don’t realize: you’re in charge of the pressure — say “lighter” or “deeper” at any point, your therapist genuinely wants to know — and you’re in charge of the conversation, or the silence. Prefer a quiet session? Just close your eyes. Everything is adjustable: the temperature, the music, the areas of focus.
One of our recent first-visit guests put it simply: “She made me feel so comfortable. I definitely recommend this place.” Comfort isn’t a bonus — it’s the foundation the whole treatment is built on.
After Your Massage: Keep the Calm Going
Take your time getting up — there’s no rush out the door. Drink water, and if you can, keep the hour after your massage unhurried; that post-massage calm is worth savouring rather than sprinting back into a busy day. Some light soreness after deeper work is normal and usually settles within a day.
If you loved it, the real magic is in regularity — many of our guests book their next visit before they leave, and massage also pairs beautifully with our facials for a full reset. Planning a visit with a partner? A couples massage makes a first visit even easier — you experience it together.
